BHP Jansen Discovery Lodge
Comforts of home
A home is about more than the walls that enclose it – it’s about building a space that fits the people who depend on it. The Jansen Discovery Lodge showcases how we work with clients and partners to create spaces that fit you.
The lodge, which was designed, manufactured and installed on site by ATCO Structures, features permanent accommodations for 2,586 workers at BHP's Jansen Potash Project, with essential comforts like fitness facilities with everything from squash courts to steam rooms, and a 200-seat movie theatre. Taken together, they’re home-like touches that demonstrate our commitment to collaboration and operational excellence.

Collaboration
Collaboration is the energy that fuels every one of our projects. We talk extensively with clients and engage uniquely talented employees and contractors in building and operating our facilities.
Building the Jansen Discovery Lodge more than a decade ago, for example, wouldn’t have been possible without Indigenous joint-venture partnerships with the nearby George Gordon, Daystar and Kawacatoose First Nations. It’s the kind of mutually beneficial relationships that we’re proud of, creating sustainable supplier, education and employment opportunities that work for everyone.
Today, ATCO Frontec is partnered with George Gordon Developments to operate and maintain the lodge as Wicehtowak Frontec Services, a majority Indigenous-owned joint venture.
Operational Excellence
Beyond the facilities, a lodge is only as good as the services delivered within. Wicehtowak Frontec Services is responsible for the ongoing lodge operations, including catering and food services, housekeeping , facility maintenance and lodge management. This creates a streamlined guest experience and an easy one-stop solution for our client.
