Indigenous Procurement Creates Win-Win Opportunities
At ATCO Frontec, we work to create opportunities for Indigenous businesses, so when West Earth Sciences joined us for an Indigenous Partnering Procurement session, we were interested to learn more.
The session, aimed at Indigenous-owned companies looking for opportunities to work alongside ATCO, explored the process of becoming registered as an Indigenous company in our procurement system.
West Earth Sciences, who we started working with in August 2022, offers a full suite of Environmental Services including remedial action plans, reclamation, environmental baselining and more. They are a majority owned Indigenous (Metis) entity, which aligns with our mission to build capacity through work with Indigenous businesses.
This new supplier relationship has been mutually beneficial. We’ve used their services for a recent project, and West Earth is realizing an improved competitive advantage as well.
Our current work with them is due to be completed by the end of the year, but we see a positive future with West Earth Sciences thanks to their professional and competitive approach to doing business together.
We’re proud to be recognized as an Aboriginal Procurement Champion through the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business and encourage businesses to reach out to us through the directory or via our website to learn more about opportunities to work with ATCO.
